Lincoln County saw the first flakes of snow for the season in the wee hours of Monday morning, but the duration was so fleeting and the snowfall so light that any effects were negligible.
There were no weather alerts posted by the National Weather Service regarding this event.
Temps slid below the freezing level between approximately 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Monday just as lingering rainfall moved out of the area, leaving a coating to several inches of accumulated snowfall. However, sub-freezing temps didn’t last long after sunrise, causing any fallen snow on roadways to melt by mid-morning, and leaving a thin blanket of white on the ground.
