Five Midcoast residents are facing drug possession charges after they were arrested by local law enforcement and Maine Drug Enforcement agents in Waldoboro Oct. 17.
Waldoboro Police Officer Jeff Fuller received a call from the MDEA at around noon Oct. 17 requesting the department stop a vehicle, according to Chief of Police Bill
Labombarde. The MDEA had information the vehicle contained illegal drugs, he said.
Fuller stopped the vehicle on Kaler’s Corner Road, and both Waldoboro Police and MDEA agents searched the vehicle, Labombarde said.
“We found a small amount of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, Suboxone, marijuana, and hashish,” said Jim Pease, a supervisor for MDEA.
“Some of it was probably being sold, and some of it was for personal use,” Pease said.
Chris Benner, 20, of Waldoboro; Josh Benner, 25, of Damariscotta; Gina Glidden, 25, of Belfast; Nicole Pranes (also known as Nicole Davis), 38, of Newcastle; and
Anthony Winchenbach, 32, of Waldoboro, were arrested and taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail by Waldoboro police, MDEA, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Labombarde said.
All were charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs; Pranes was also charged with aggravated trafficking, according to Two Bridges Regional Jail personnel.
Chris Benner was also arrested on a warrant for failure to pay fines, according to Pease.
All have since bailed out except for Chris Benner, who was still being held of Oct. 21 in lieu of $448 bail from a previous unpaid fine, according to jail personnel.
