Rhonda Flagg, Jefferson, launched her new business “Everything in its Place” on Jan. 11 with a brunch for family and friends at the Damariscotta River Grill. Flagg provides a professional organizing service for homes and small businesses throughout the Midcoast area. “You can take control of your life again, and not have to do it alone,” Flagg said of creating “order out of chaos.”
The business is four-part, including closet design and installation; home inventory; home and small business organization; and, photo organization.
Creating storage space is a great way to get organized. Flagg will work with homeowners to design a closet organizer that best fits an individual’s needs and the available space.
Closet organizers can be installed in an existing closet, or mounted on a wall. “They can be as simple as wire shelving to mahogany, and be installed in a broom closet to a walk-in closet. They can fit anyone’s budget. You can start out small and add to it,” Flagg said.
After the closet organizers have been ordered, Flagg will work with a local sub-contractor to install them. “It’s nice to go into a closet and know exactly where everything is,” Flagg added.
Flagg offers home inventory services, written, photo and/or video, to document every item in a home or small business.
Flagg lost a home to fire in 1982 so she knows full well the value of documenting every item in a home for insurance purposes. She also works with homeowners to make sure their insurance is adequate to insure their property. “If you don’t upgrade along the way, and a fire or catastrophe hits, you may find yourself under-insured.”
Flagg has a niche for organization. She offers tips to reduce clutter and to develop a routine to get better organized. She will go into homes and help people weed through years of stuff that has collected, and help homeowners decide what to keep and what to donate to a charity.
“I’ll help them weed out items they don’t need. Help them create space and get organized. I can also help people downsize from a large home to a smaller one,” Flagg added.
Flagg lost many treasured baby photos of her son in the 1982 fire, so she sees the value in organizing photos. She provides a service that takes photos, slides, or 35-mm film and puts them onto a CD or external hard drive, where they can be stored in a safety deposit box or another location.
Flagg, who has severe allergies, also offers a home health evaluation and teaches how to use green products. She will go room to room and make suggestions and inform people “what’s going on.”
“You don’t even want to know what’s going on in that 30-year-old rug,” she said. She also offers starter kits for green products.
A member of the Maine Women’s Network Association, Flagg’s business will take part in the organization’s Dress for Success Purse drive in February. New and slightly used handbags will be collected and donated to underprivileged women for job interviews and for use while starting up in the workforce.
Collection sites will be listed on Flagg’s website (www.everything-in-its-place.com).
