Lincoln County saw a temporary lull Tuesday morning in the sustained precipitation that began Sunday night, but don’t put the umbrellas away yet, as more heavy rain is coming, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency (LCEMA) is also watching two high tides that may threaten minor flooding in Lincoln County coastal areas. At 12:14 p.m. on Tuesday, the tide for Wiscasset is forecast at 11.4 feet, and at 12:32 a.m. on Wednesday the tide is expected reach a height of 11.6 feet.
A Flood Watch issued by the NWS remains in effect through Wednesday evening.
So far, Lincoln County has weathered the rainstorm well, according to Kim Kaiser of the LCEMA. The only reported flooding is in Wiscasset and is considered minor, according to Kaiser.
Rainfall totals are in the 1 to 2 inch range for most of the Lincoln County area, with nearby Knox County reporting 3 inches of rainfall since the storm began last Sunday night, according to the NWS.
The rain is expected to intensify Tuesday afternoon and evening as a low front moves north offshore of the area, bringing another 2 inches of rain, according to the NWS forecast. Rainfall should taper to showers later Tuesday night, according to the NWS.
