Emily L. Allen-Perry, 23, of Jefferson and John W. Grotton, 26, of Augusta, pleaded guilty to three burglaries Oct. 1 in Lincoln County Superior Court.
Allen-Perry and Grotton burglarized homes in Alna, Whitefield and Wiscasset Oct. 14, 2011.
Justice Andrew Horton sentenced Allen-Perry to seven months in jail and Grotton to three years in prison. The former couple will have to pay up to $9118 in restitution.
The Lincoln County burglaries and the sentences are just an addendum to a criminal case in Kennebec County.
Allen-Perry pleaded guilty to 46 counts of burglary, theft and related crimes in that case; Grotton to 93.
According to the Portland Press Herald, Grotton would burglarize homes while Allen-Perry served as his driver and lookout. The couple stole electronics, firearms, jewelry and money to fund Grotton’s addiction to prescription painkillers.
Authorities caught up with Allen-Perry and Grotton after a burglary victim recognized her necklace for sale at a local pawn shop.
In the Kennebec County cases, Allen-Perry was sentenced to seven years with all but 15 months suspended, which she will serve in jail. Grotton received a sentence of 20 years in prison with all but five years suspended. He will start serving eight years of probation after his release.
Allen-Perry must pay more than $54,000 in restitution; Grotton $98,000.
The Lincoln County sentences will run concurrently with the Kennebec County sentences.
