Shawn Dinsmore, the former manager of the Bristol/South Bristol Transfer Station, resigned Dec. 28.
The Bristol/South Bristol Transfer Station Board of Directors announced his resignation following an emergency meeting the same day.
Chairman Chester Rice made a brief statement after the board met with South Bristol’s attorney, Patrick Parson, for about five minutes in executive session.
“The previous manager of the transfer station formally resigned today,” Rice said. “We accepted his resignation.”
The board suspended Dinsmore and another transfer station employee without pay Dec. 12 and started a search for Dinsmore’s replacement immediately thereafter.
The board has not stated a reason for the suspensions, but they followed a recent investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, which charged a transfer station employee (not Dinsmore) with the civil offense of possession of less than 1.25 ounces of marijuana.
At subsequent meetings, Rice and other board members and municipal officials also expressed dissatisfaction with the management of the facility, including the condition of buildings, equipment and grounds as well as questionable accounting practices.
