A four-car collision briefly closed the Davey Bridge between Edgecomb and Wiscasset beginning around 5:42 p.m., Monday.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the accident involved two northbound and two southbound cars.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff Office Lt. Rand Maker, the accident occurred when a southbound 2007 Chevy Suburban, operated by James Cocco, 42, Marshfield, Mass., came across the center line and sideswiped a northbound 2010 Suburu Outback, operated by Lawrence Campbell, 69, Rockland.
Continuing northbound in the southbound lane, Cocco struck a northbound 2012 Volkswagen Passat, operated by Jonathan Stormont, 57, Damariscotta.
The impact of the crash spun Stormont’s vehicle 180 degrees to end facing north in the southbound lane where it was subsequently struck by a southbound Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Stacy Linnehan, 41, Westport Island.
None of the four drivers required treatment for injuries at the scene. Route 1 was closed for portions of the following hour while responders cleared the scene.
Wiscasset and Edgecomb fire and rescue units and Wiscasset Police assisted LCSO at the scene. The accident is being investigated by LCSO Reserve Dep. Thomas Hoepner.
