Four Lincoln County residents face various drug charges following the execution of two separate search warrants within the past week.
According to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) a young Wiscasset couple faces heroin charges after MDEA agents, Wiscasset Police, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and Maine State Police conducted a search warrant at their apartment on Rt. 27 July 23.
As a result of the Wiscasset search, Brandon Nelson, 25, is charged with aggravated trafficking of heroin, and 18-year-old Elise Cowing is charged with trafficking heroin, MDEA Supervisor James Pease said.
During the search of the apartment officers recovered 23 bags of heroin, 12 Oxycontin pills, scales and other evidence of drug use and trafficking.
Pease said Nelson and Cowing had not been prescribed Oxycontin. Cowing was arrested at her home and Nelson was taken into custody at a home in Round Pond, where he was working as a house painter.
Pease said Nelson had another 12 pills of Oxycontin on him when he was arrested. Nelson’s charge was aggravated due to a prior conviction for furnishing prescription pills. Both Cowing and Nelson were taken to the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset and are now out on bail. Their court date will be in September.
The search warrant was the result of an investigation by MDEA, Bath Police, and Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties deputies into the suspected sales of heroin and Oxycontin by the couple in Lincoln County.
On July 21, agents from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a search warrant at the residence of John Main, 37, on Old County Road in Edgecomb.
According to the LCSO, this search warrant was a result of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Lincoln County and the Midcoast region. Seized during the search were 11 large marijuana plants, approximately two and half pounds of processed marijuana, a set of scales and two rifles.
During the course of this search, agents also discovered and seized 45 large marijuana plants growing behind the residence of Fred Nelson, age 55, of Old County Road in Edgecomb. These plants were also seized.
Total street value of the marijuana seized is approximately $5000.
John Main was arrested the following day and charged with Unlawful Trafficking in Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. He released on $1500 unsecured bail pending a later appearance in court.
Fred Nelson was summonsed the following day for marijuana cultivation.
