A state approved Responsible Beverage Seller (RBS) training for Lincoln County off-premise liquor licensees will be held Thurs., March 15, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Youth Promise, Homeport Plaza, Rt. 1, Newcastle.
This training is offered free of charge to liquor retailers through the Maine Office of Substance Abuse (OSA), in partnership with Healthy Lincoln County and Lincoln County law enforcement.
In their effort to decrease underage and high risk problem drinking throughout the county, law enforcement strongly encourages store owners, managers and employees to attend the upcoming Alcohol Seller training. Those completing the training receive a certificate and will be registered with the Maine Department of Public Safety, Liquor Licensing for a period of five years.
Veteran liquor enforcement officer Frank Lyons of BC Consultants facilitates the RBS training. Attendees will learn the effects of alcohol on the body, liquor liability laws, identifying minors and visibly intoxicated persons (VIPs), carding practices and false ID detection, the importance of having good written policy and the impact of alcohol on public health and safety.
Lincoln County police urge retailers to help in enforcing the state’s liquor laws, which protect communities from those in danger to themselves and others. By having their staff attend this training retailers also protect themselves and, most importantly, save lives.
Pre-registration is required, spaces are limited.
