A completely revamped website for The Lincoln County News premiered Oct. 9 with a fresh look and a new domain name.
The new domain (or URL address) for The Lincoln County News website is www.lincolncountynewsonline.com. (The former domain was www.mainelincolncountynews.com.)
“We’re hoping the new domain name will offer our readers a more logical identity, one that more closely matches the name on our masthead,” said Greg Latimer, special projects coordinator for Lincoln County Publishing Co., which has published The Lincoln County News for over 130 years.
A redirect has been placed on the old domain so that readers still using that address will be automatically switched to the new website.
The new website also features a new look and many new choices and advantages for readers.
The left side column of the home page features lead-ins for the most compelling news, feature and sports stories. A middle column features current news stories important enough to post prior to the weekly print edition of The Lincoln County News.
The third column from the left includes click-throughs to a variety of sections, as do click-throughs located on the navigation bar running horizontally across the top. Advertising is featured in the column on the right side of the page.
Readers choosing to click on one of the website sections, such as “news” or “sports” will find an easy to navigate line-up of related stories, many of them illustrated with thumbnail photos. The complete story may be read with a click on the link included with each listing.
Readers may also subscribe to receive weekly e-mail headlines and e-mail news alerts by clicking a box located on the lower right hand side of the home page. There is also box to subscribe to The Lincoln County News print edition.
“One of the greatest advantages to this new site is we have the ability to customize and improve it with our own staff,” Latimer said, “so our readers can look forward to further development and constant improvements to the site.”
