On Sept. 11 a Lincoln County grand jury indicted Russell Marr for two counts of aggravated assault and Kelby Hampson for four counts of assault on an officer.
Marr, 41, of Wiscasset, is charged with assaulting Rodney Doray with a baseball bat, according to the indictment.
According to a written statement by Wiscasset Police Officer Perry Hatch, Doray alleged that Marr assaulted Doray after he went to Marr’s residence to retrieve some fishing poles.
Hatch wrote Marr admitted striking Doray with the bat in response to Doray harassing his wife. Marr told Hatch he may have overreacted, according to the statement.
Hampson was a Kennebec County inmate being boarded at Two Bridges Regional Jail at the time he allegedly assaulted four correctional officers, said TBRJ Lieutenant Darryl Groh.
A written statement by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Banks alleges Banks was told by the affected officers that Hampson initially punched Officer Paul Rubashkin in the face, and then kicked both Officers Eric Major and Timothy Willette in the head and spat in the face of Lieutenant James Bailey while they escorted Hampson to booking.
Hampson is charged with four counts of Class B assault on an officer and was previously convicted for two Class D assaults and one domestic violence assault, according to the indictment.
