The Great Salt Bay School Committee is in a temporary leadership stalemate after two tie votes for committee officers at its Aug. 8 meeting.
The absence of Damariscotta representative Jennifer MacDonald left the seven-member committee with an even number of votes.
Newcastle representative Carole Brinkler is the chairwoman of the committee, Bremen representative Bill Thomas the vice chairman and Damariscotta representative Sally Farrell the treasurer.
During the annual election of officers, Newcastle representative Mark Doe nominated MacDonald for chairwoman, Farrell for vice chairwoman and Thomas for treasurer.
Farrell, in turn, nominated Brinkler for re-election. Brinkler nominated Thomas for vice chairman and Farrell for treasurer.
The votes for chairman and vice chairman were both 3-3.
Following the vote for vice chairman, Central Lincoln County School System Superintendent Steve Bailey asked the committee to table the election until the September meeting, when, hopefully, the committee will have perfect attendance.
