Bremen, Damariscotta, and Newcastle voters approved the 2015-2016 Great Salt Bay Consolidated School District budget during the district’s annual budget meeting in Damariscotta May 13.
The budget totals $5,588,196, an increase of $80,143 or 1.46 percent. The new total follows an amendment to reduce the transportation-and-buses budget category by $20,000.
The budget will affect the three towns in different ways. Each town’s share of the K-8 student population in the district determines its percentage of the budget after accounting for other revenue sources like state funds and tuition students.
Damariscotta’s share totals $2,168,343, a decrease of $69,685, or 3.11 percent. Newcastle will pay $1,924,076, an increase of $63,438, or 2.98 percent. Bremen will pay $851,299, an increase of $188,905, or 28.52 percent.
A secret-ballot vote to validate the results of the annual budget meeting will take place in all three towns June 9.
