A duo of hair stylists hopes to offer an exceptional experience to guests at a new Damariscotta hair salon.
Located at 661 Main St. in Damariscotta, Blush Boutique offers a full range of hair services, including cutting, styling, coloring, and facial waxing. Rachel Osier, owner and stylist of Blush Boutique, said the focus of the salon is to provide excellent service and attention to detail to meet the needs of her guests.
“You aren’t a customer or client, you are a guest in the salon,” Osier said. “We really keep the energy positive and greet everyone with a smile.”
Osier has more than 11 years of experience in the industry, which motivated her to open the boutique in Damariscotta in early November 2015.
“When coming up with the name, I really liked the word blush, because it’s about shining brightly, and that’s really what I want my customers to feel,” Osier said.
Osier was the sole stylist in the salon until bringing Katie Hagar on board Jan. 5. Hagar has been cutting and styling hair for four years, having received training in Varji Salon in Charlotte, N.C.
“I had met Rachel while I was back for Christmas and asked if there was any way she needed help,” Hagar said. “I have been able to carry over everything I learned from Charlotte and apply it here, which is just incredible.”
Osier is also excited about the experience and energy Hagar brings to the business.
“I’m really looking forward to learning her style and her techniques, because she’s bringing in this unique training,” Osier said. “It’s really exciting to be working side by side.”
Osier said the boutique has been busy since it opened. Both Osier and Hagar will continue to attend classes and programs to keep up-to-date on the latest techniques and styles of the industry.
“You can really never have too much training,” Osier said. “It’s fun to get to collaborate with other stylists and learn what they’re doing so that we can bring it back to the community.”
The focus of Blush Boutique will remain on the guests and their hair.
“Working with the clients is easily my favorite part,” Hagar said. “I love when they are happy when then leave and knowing that we were able to do that for them.”Blush Boutique is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend reservations are available on request.
