The Waldoboro Food Pantry recently received a donation of $1700 from Harold C. Ralph Chevrolet, the result of a month-long fundraiser held last fall.
Steve Ralph, the owner of Harold C. Ralph Chevrolet, said $100 was set aside from each vehicle sold that month to be donated to the food pantry.
“I know people need food,” Ralph said. “Everybody’s struggling, so if we can help, we can help.”
Additionally, Ralph said shelves are available at the dealership during business hours to accept donations of food for the pantry.
“We’ve received quite a bit of food on those shelves, some from our employees, some from customers who come in,” Ralph said. The food is then picked up by pantry volunteers, he said.
“I think for the most part people try to help people,” Ralph said. “If we don’t, a lot of people aren’t going to get any help.”
The Waldoboro Food Pantry is located at the Waldoboro Methodist Church on Friendship Street and is open the first and third Thursdays each month. Winter hours are from 1 to 6 p.m.
