Harvest Moon Pizza will open a full-service, sit-down pizza restaurant at the former home of the Pine Cone Café in Waldoboro, Thursday, May 8.
In 2011, Harvest Moon Pizza began selling locally sourced pizza from a portable brick oven in the parking lot at Rising Tide Community Market. The business has grown to two portable ovens and provides wood-fired catering for weddings, parties, and special events.
Harvest Moon can also be found at local events and fundraisers, as well as the Damariscotta Farmers Market at Rising Tide from 3 to 6 p.m. every Monday, starting June 2.
The new restaurant will open at 3:30 p.m. for happy hour. Food will be served until 9 p.m. and the doors will close at 10 p.m. or later if folks are still enjoying themselves. The restaurant will offer takeout. To place an order, call 832-4005.
Seating options include custom-built wood booths facing Friendship Street and awesome views of Medomak River from the back counter and bar area.
Osprey and bald eagles frequent the area just below the building and are a sight to behold as they circle looking for fish. Ample parking is available on the river side of the building, with steps leading up to the counter-bar room.
Pizza dough, bread, and crackers will be made fresh on-site, and locally made, gluten-free crust will always be an option. Fresh salads with house-made dressings will be on the menu.
Locally sourced ingredients like cheese from Lakins Gorges and State of Maine Cheese Company, Maine Grains flour, Morning Dew Farm salad greens, Treble Ridge Farm pork, and Wee Bit Farm lamb will be paired with seasonal produce and chicken from Harvest Moon’s own farm in Bremen.
Local and domestic craft beer will be a specialty, with both draft and bottled selections, including gluten-free beer and Maine-made ciders. An expanding wine selection will be a continuing focus.
Harvest Moon will be family friendly and will serve juice, iced tea, and Maine-made sodas.
While the new location is not yet wood-fired, Harvest Moon will continue to emphasize fresh, local ingredients and food and farm awareness.
