Traffic is reduced to one lane at the scene of a two-vehicle head-on minor-injury accident in the vicinity of 50 Rockland Rd. (Rt. 17), in Jefferson.
Jefferson Fire and Rescue, Waldoboro EMS and deputies from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are currently on the scene.
The accident involved a green Jeep Liberty, owned by Christine Urquhart, 63, of Jefferson, and a bronze colored Lincoln Towncar, driven by John Jackie, 65, of Camden.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Hayden, Jackie was traveling westbound on Rt. 17, attempting to turn left into the Maine Hydroponic Store at 50 Rockland St., and failed to yield to the oncoming Jeep, driven by Urquhart.
According to Hayden, both operators were conscious and alert when the deputy arrived on the scene. Jackie was being transported to Pen Bay Medical Center by Waldoboro EMS. Urquhart’s husband was planning to take her to Maine General.
Hayden said that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
