The latest bulletin from the National Weather Service (NWS) combined with radar observations and forecasts from a variety of sources indicates that heavy snowfall is tapering off as the April Fools Day storm begins to track north. But don’t break out the surfboard yet… Lighter, variable snowfall along with some rain and/or sleet will continue well after nightfall.
A Winter Weather Advisory issued by the NWS is now in effect until 8 p.m. Friday night (initially the Warning extended to 10 p.m.)
Additional accumulation of 1-2 inches of snowfall is forecast — which will top off existing totals that have been estimated at 8-14 inches for the Lincoln County highlands, 6-9 inches for central Lincoln County and 3-6 inches for the coastal peninsulas.
In surprising contrast (and no April Fools), forecasters are calling for sunshine and temps in the 50’s by Saturday afternoon with sunny weather continuing into Sunday.
