A blustery mix of high winds and heavy rainfall buffeted Lincoln County beginning Friday afternoon, but it wasn’t until the evening commute at about 5 p.m. that wind velocities increased and damage reports started coming in to the Lincoln County Communications Center.
First responders were summoned to trees and wires down throughout the county. By 8:35 p.m. there were 3,727 households with power outages, with every town in Lincoln County affected, according to Central Maine Power (CMP). Almost a third of the outages were in South Bristol where southeasterly winds with sustained velocities of 30-40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph wreaked havoc on the coastal peninsula.
Over 28,000 households suffered power outages statewide during the storm, according to CMP.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained.
