The latest National Weather Service (NWS) advisory (11:32 a.m.) has upgraded the snowfall totals for Lincoln County regarding a weather front that has been dumping heavy, wet snowflakes on the area since early Thursday morning.
Snowfall accumulation is now forecast at 8 to 12 inches for the entire area with possible exceptions for extreme coastal areas and the tips of south facing peninsulas where the snow may mix with rain, according to the NWS.
The original forecast called for 4 to 8 inches on the coast and 8 to 12 inches for inland areas of Lincoln County, according to the NWS.
The evening commute is still a concern, when the possibility of higher temps may cause mixed precipitation along the Rt. 1 corridor between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., according to the hour by hour forecast on intellicast.com.
A Winter Storm Warning issued by the NWS remains in effect until 4 a.m. on Friday morning. Most forecasters are calling for a decreasing volume of snowfall through the evening hours.
