A Holden man who allegedly led Knox County sheriff’s deputies on a foot chase through the woods of Warren was arrested in Bangor June 19.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office had requested the public’s help to find Joseph Demmons, 29, who was wanted on 12 active arrest warrants.
Demmons managed to avoid capture in the foot chase behind Ande’s Variety, off Route 1 in Warren, around 6 p.m. June 17, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. He had been living in a makeshift hut in the woods and “had many trails” through the area.
Demmons has outstanding warrants for failure to pay fines for convictions of criminal threatening, operating after suspension, operating under the influence, refusing to submit to arrest, and violation of condition of release.
He also faces charges of failure to appear on multiple theft charges. All the warrants originate in Penobscot County.
