A Waldoboro man faces burglary and drug possession charges after allegedly burglarizing a Reef Road home early Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Kenneth T. Neild, 23, was arrested after a brief investigation.
A Reef Road homeowner woke up to find a man inside the residence, according to a press release from Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde. The homeowner got out of bed, yelled at the subject, and chased him out of the home.
The police department responded to the home shortly after 6 a.m., according to the press release. After speaking with the homeowner, Waldoboro Police Officer Larry Hesseltine requested a K-9 unit to respond to his location. The K-9 unit and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Dennison conducted a track from the residence to a mobile home on Reed Lane.
Hesseltine and Dennison located a man matching the description given by the Reef Road homeowner hiding in the shower of the mobile home, according to the press release. The man, later identified as Neild, was arrested on charges of burglary and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
After Neild’s arrest, Waldoboro officers responded to a report of a separate attempted burglary on Reef Road, where the suspect attempted to gain entry into a residence through a window, but was scared off by the homeowner, according to the press release. Officers also responded to two complaints of burglary of a motor vehicle in the same area.
According to the press release, the investigation is ongoing and more charges are likely.
