Two former Waldoboro residents were arrested after Maine Drug Enforcement Agents seized more than 950 bags at their home on Riverside Drive in Warren Aug. 3. Agents, aided by the Knox County deputies, Rockland and State Police, and game wardens arrested Shawn Leclerc, 26, Tonja Hallett, 25 and Angel Jones, 25, of Rockland shortly after the trio had returned from Rhode Island where the heroin was allegedly obtained.
Police seized 956 bags of heroin, which has a street value of $19,000 and confiscated scales, packaging material and an assortment of needles.
MDEA Supervisor James Pease termed the seizure “huge” and one of the largest of its kind in Knox County. Pease said Leclerc has been suspected of selling hundreds of bags of heroin from his home over the past four to six months. Agents served a search warrant at the residence about 6 p.m., shortly after the three suspects returned to the house.
Police allege the heroin, ready for resale, was found scattered on a bed and floor of a bedroom, according to police.
Leclerc, Hallett and Jones are charged with aggravated trafficking of heroin and importation of heroin.
Police allege Jones drove a car back from Rhode Island with Leclerc and Hallett as passengers. She was subsequently released on $500 bail.
Leclerc and Hallett remain at the Knox County Jail. They are expected to appear in Rockland District Court on Friday.
