The Alna Store will be extending its morning hours in November for deer hunting season. Starting Thurs., Nov. 4 through Sat., Nov. 27 the store will be open at 5 a.m. on Thursday-Saturday mornings. Special hunters’ breakfast menus will be available until 11 a.m. each morning.
The store sells hunting licenses and also is a tag station. On opening day for Maine hunting residents, owners Amy and Mike Preston tagged out 20 deer in addition to three deer tagged on Youth Day, Oct. 23.
They say this was a great start for the season with the first tag being a 200-lbs., 10 point buck brought in by Mike Trask in Alna. Later in the day Joel Peaslee, Edgecomb, tagged a 211-lb., nine point buck. On Youth Day Josh Delong, Westport, brought in the largest deer of the day – a 200-lb., eight point buck.
The fall lunch and dinner specials for November include boiled dinners on Tuesdays, pasta special on Wednesdays and full turkey dinners on Thursdays.
Friday’s special is Tammy’s famous haddock chowder and Saturdays continue to feature baked beans and franks and Mike’s BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches. Complete hours for November are Mon.-Wed., 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Thurs.-Sat., 5 a.m. – 7 p.m. The store will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 5 a.m. – 11 a.m. serving breakfast only.
