James MacInnes, 30, of Pittston, died at the Schooner Inn in Wiscasset the morning of June 1 as the result of an inadvertent alcohol and drug overdose, Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline said.
The Maine State Police and Medical Examiner’s Office have confirmed the cause of death, according to a Wiscasset Police Department press release.
Cline identified the substances involved as methadone and large quantities of beer.
Cline and the Wiscasset Ambulance Service responded to the inn at 306 Bath Road (Rt. 1) at about 7:15 a.m. on a report of a man who was unconscious and not breathing.
MacInnes’ cousin, Wayne Perkins, 32, of Dresden, “was in the room with [MacInnes] and found MacInnes face down on the floor,” according to the press release.
MacInnes died at the scene.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Maine State Police and the Wiscasset Police Department have completed their investigations. No charges will be filed, Cline said.
