July 5: The Wiscasset, Waterville, & Farmington Railway Museum will host an ice cream social on the 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. trains. Ride the train to Alna Center Station and enjoy live music. The museum is at 97 Cross Road in Alna.
Boothbay
July 4: Boothbay Civic Association will hold a celebration on the Boothbay Common from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The celebration will include a welcoming address from Rep. Bruce MacDonald, children’s games, chicken barbecue, crafters’ booths, and music from the Community Band, Arthur Webster, Rick Turcotte and Scott Rittall, and Paul Johnson and Amber Jones. Rain date July 5.
Boothbay Harbor
July 4: Hallowell Community Band concert on the waterfront at Whale Park beginning at 7:30 p.m., followed by fireworks over the harbor at dusk.
Bremen
July 4: Bremen Union Church holds its fourth annual Independence Day celebration, 10 a.m. to 2p.m. Event to include a hot dog stand and homemade desserts, and a small rummage sale for red, white, and blue items, Maine-themed items, and vacation-oriented items. Bristol
July 5: The Carpenter’s Boat Shop welcomes all to an open house to celebrate its 35th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 440 Old County Road. Refreshments and tours.
Bristol – New Harbor
July 5: 238th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, public reading at Colonial Pemaquid Historic Site, 2-3 p.m. (Note: this event has been postponed from July 4 to July 5 due to weather)
Bristol – Round Pond
July 4: Round Pond Parade, starting at Masters Machine (Lower Round Pond Road and Route 32) at noon. Blood Orange Margaritas Band at the Anchor Inn and barbecue begins after the parade.
Damariscotta
July 4 to 6: Jake Day exhibit at Round Top Farm, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Fundraiser for the Chapman-Hall House.
July 5: Strawberry Shortcake Shuffle, to benefit Healthy Kids, 8:30 a.m., starts and finishes at Great Salt Bay School, Damariscotta. Includes 5K and fun runs.
July 5: The Cottage in the Woods hosts a patriotic concert. Ice cream sundaes at 6:30 p.m., music at 7 p.m.
Jefferson
July 5: Jefferson Fire & Rescue annual chicken barbecue at the Jefferson Fire Station, Route 32. 11 a.m. until sold out.
Newcastle
July 4: Fireworks viewed from the Lincoln Home lawn, across the Damariscotta River at dusk. Parking on River Road only, walking onto the lawn.
Whitefield
July 4: Whitefield’s parade will begin at 10 a.m., followed with a cake walk, raffle, white elephant sale, and music, all located near the Kings Mills firehouse. Up for raffle this year is a 51-inch plasma television.
The Kings Mills Union Hall Association will hold its annual white elephant sale.
Wiscasset
July 4: Wiscasset’s parade begins at 10 a.m. followed by a Veterans Memorial Salute and flag raising at the waterfront at 11 a.m. The Wiscasset Yacht Club will be sponsoring a variety of events near the waterfront after the flag raising including rubber ducky races, face painting, boat building with shingles and paper sails, and a pull-the-Commodore-into-the-pool tug o’ war.
A parade of boats decorated in red, white, and blue will be held at 1 p.m. and will include a cannon salute. The Wiscasset Yacht Club will also have strawberry shortcake available for purchase.
At 8 p.m. parade winners will be announced at the waterfront followed with music by the Dyer Neck Gang.
