Two inmates at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset have been charged after allegedly filing a false sexual assault complaint against a female corrections officer.
According to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, March 21, LCSO Detective Terry Michaud received a complaint from the jail staff that an inmate had reported being sexually assaulted by corrections officer.
Inmate Brandon Knowles, 25, from the Bangor area, stated, while in a secluded area of the jail, a female corrections officer touched his genitals without his permission. A second inmate, Cory Breen, 26, from the Belfast area, backed up Knowles’ report by stating he was in the same area when the alleged assault took place.
After investigation, reviewing security footage and numerous interviews, Detective Michaud discovered the complaint had been fabricated by the two inmates and the alleged assault had never taken place.
Knowles has been charged with false public alarm/report and Breen was charged with hindering investigation.
