Mid-Coast Audubon presents naturalist, educator, and Registered Maine Guide Mike Shannon at the Belfast Free Library, 106 High Street, Belfast, on Thurs., Feb. 23, at 6:30 p.m. as he shares his passion for all things natural.
Snow…it’s worth a second look! Jim Vickery in his book “Winter Sign” reminds us that winter is a mistress to reckon with…it hunts us with its cold and haunts us with its beauty.
Come and whet your appetite for things wild and natural. Celebrate the season and explore life in the cold. Discover to your surprise and delight that the leafless woods are not lifeless.
Whether in the forest prowling for owls or aboard boats scanning for pelagic birds, Shannon continues to lead outings for local groups. He is recently retired from Unity College where he taught Ornithology and Ecological education.
He’s a former director of Audubon Ecology Camp in Maine (Hog Island), he also served as Master Naturalist for the Massachusetts Audubon Society. Shannon has a long history of sharing his passion and enthusiasm for all things natural. The program is free and open to all. Donations are always welcome.
Mid-Coast Audubon is an all-volunteer group whose mission is to promote long term responsible use of natural resources through an informed membership, education and community awareness. MCAS offers free monthly birding trips and educational programs as well as maintaining four public preserves.
