A few days after a Jefferson boy was badly burned by a campfire at his home, the 8th grade class at Jefferson Village School decided to host a spaghetti supper to raise money for their classmate’s family.
The boy is stable and being treated at the Shriners Hospital in Boston, after suffering first and second degree burns to his face, chest, back, arms and legs.
“On Friday the class got together and voted to have the supper,” said parent Cheryl Bois. “Then they all went on vacation.”
Bois, the parent of an 8th grader, and wife of 8th grade teacher Randy Bois and a neighbor of the victim, has been helping 8th grade teacher Michelle Duncan Shaw organize the event.
The dinner will be held on Fri., April 30 at the Jefferson Village School. The meal will cost $5 for adults, $3 for kids, with a $25 maximum per family.
There will also be a raffle. Letters have been sent to many local businesses, Bois said. So far they’ve received several items, including gift certificates from Red Robbin Restaurant and Hammond Lumber.
They will hold a drop-off day for food donations for the supper and items for the raffle from 4-6 p.m. on April 26 at the school.
“It’s a small school, so when one kid is hurt, they all feel it,” Bois said.
