A Jefferson man was arrested for allegedly subjecting a juvenile relative to unlawful sexual contact, a Class B felony, and unlawful sexual touching, a Class D misdemeanor, but he claims the child targeted and attacked him, according to court documents.
Darrell Crosby, 55, was brought to the Knox County Correctional Facility April 2 after being arrested on a warrant, according to jail staff.
According to a police report by Knox County Sheriff’s Detective Justin Twitchell, the alleged sexual contact took place over a six-year time period ending in 2011 and was estimated by the juvenile to have occurred at least three times per month during that period.
The juvenile was four years old when the alleged sexual contact began, according to the report.
Crosby allegedly admitted to contact with the juvenile, but claimed he tried to avoid it and the juvenile targeted him, Twitchell wrote.
According to Twitchell’s report, Crosby said he was sexually victimized as a child, suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression, previously suffered from alcoholism, and has attempted to take his own life in the past.
A call to Crosby’s court-appointed attorney, Jeremy Pratt, was not returned by press time.
Crosby was still in custody at Knox County Correctional Facility as of April 8, according to staff.
Crosby’s bail is set at $10,000 secured bail with conditions of no direct or indirect contact with the juvenile or the juvenile’s family, and no contact with children under the age of sixteen, according to court documents.
A hearing for the case has been set for Wednesday, June 25 at 8:30 a.m. in Knox County Superior Court.
