A Jefferson man was indicted by grand jury Sept. 10 on charges of aggravated assault, a class B felony, and domestic violence assault, a class D misdemeanor, for allegedly choking, slapping, and throwing a woman across a room in July.
According to an affidavit by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Hatch, the alleged victim said she and Jason B. Perkins, 29, got into an argument about a third party showing up on Perkins’ Facebook page.
After the alleged victim called the third party a name, Perkins allegedly grabbed the woman “by the face and threw her onto the table and began to choke her and slap her in the face,” the woman said, according to the affidavit.
Perkins and the woman continued to argue for a few minutes before Perkins allegedly threw her across the room into the table and began to choke her again for about a minute before letting her up, Hatch wrote.
According to the woman, Perkins went outside and she attempted to take pictures of her injuries, but Perkins returned and allegedly “kept slapping her in the face with his hat” and again strangled her, Hatch wrote.
Hatch wrote he observed marks on the woman’s neck and chin, and there appeared to be a fingerprint on her neck and finger marks on her cheek.
Perkins is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 8:30 a.m.
Linda Yarmosh, Perkins’ attorney, was not available for comment by press time.
