A meeting between the Jefferson School Board and the municipal budget committee, originally set for February, has been rescheduled.
Alternative Educational Structure 93 Superintendent Steve Bailey said the board will present a budget proposal to the budget committee on Thursday, April 11.
Bailey said the draft budget calls for expenses to rise by $114,993, or 2.19 percent from last year.
“Unfortunately, due to reduced available revenue (reduced fund beginning balance, reduced state subsidy) the impact on locally raised taxes would be $421,988 over last year,” Bailey wrote in an April 4 email message. “The board was very concerned about this level of impact and considered several more options to reduce the impact on residents.”
He said the board is considering the options and will meet on Tuesday, April 9 at 3:30 p.m. to consider possible reductions.
The April 11 meeting between the Jefferson School Board and the Jefferson Budget Committee will begin at 6 p.m. at the Jefferson Village School.
