A Jefferson woman’s photo of a sunset near her home on Dyer Long Pond nabbed 68.2% of reader votes to win the November #LCNme365 photo contest.
Heather Higgins snapped the photo on Nov. 3 using her iPhone.
“It was just so pretty, and I loved the reflection in the water,” Higgins said. “I knew I only had a few minutes before the sun went down, so I went out with my phone and took a bunch of photos.
“I went back inside and two minutes later, it was gone,” Higgins said.
A Damariscotta native and longtime hairdresser at Eleanor & Anita’s Salon in Damariscotta, Higgins said The Lincoln County News has been a part of her life since she was born. “It will just be cool to see the photo on the front page!” she said.
In addition to having her photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Higgins will receive a $50 gift certificate to Renys courtesy of Damariscotta Bank & Trust, the sponsor of the November contest.
As the 11th monthly winner, Higgins cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2019, but she can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries at lcnme.com.
Higgins’ photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2019.
Submissions are now being accepted for the December #LCNme365 contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate from the monthly sponsor, Louis Doe Home Center, of Newcastle. For full rules and means of entry, go to lcnme.com/photo-contest.
