A defense motion for change of venue in the case of former Great Salt Bay Community School teacher Peter Simonds was granted March 10.
A Sagadahoc County Superior Court employee confirmed the decision March 15.
Future court proceedings, including a potential trial, will take place in Sagadahoc County Superior Court in West Bath.
Simonds’ defense attorney, Eric “Rick” Morse, said March 8 that the move is necessary “to protect the integrity of the judicial process” in the wake of extensive media coverage, including coverage in The Lincoln County News, of Simonds’ case.
Simonds, 45, of Nobleboro, was indicted on Aug. 19, 2010, on 22 charges of unlawful sexual contact and unlawful sexual touching.
Simonds’ case is scheduled for docket call on Wed., April 27, the Sagadahoc County Superior Court employee said.
