A Lincoln County Superior Court jury convicted Kenneth F. Dobson, 36, of Boothbay Harbor, of six counts of Class A gross sexual assault June 27.
Dobson’s female victim was 12 years old at the time the assaults began in October 2005.
The jury found Dobson not guilty of 17 additional charges of Class A and B gross sexual assault against the same girl and another girl.
Dobson was originally indicted on 28 charges. The state dismissed six charges before trial, citing insufficient evidence.
Dobson’s defense attorney, David Paris, said he plans to appeal the convictions. He declined further comment.
According to court documents, the victim told Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Det. Robert McFetridge that Dobson forced her to engage in various acts and threatened to harm her and her family if she told anyone.
The two-day trial was the second for Dobson. Justice Jeffrey Hjelm granted Paris’ motion for mistrial at the first, on Feb. 15.
Dobson is being held without bail at Two Bridges Regional Jail. A sentencing hearing in the case has not been scheduled, a court clerk said.
A Class A crime is punishable by up to 30 years incarceration, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
