A Lincoln County Superior Court jury found a former Damariscotta man not guilty on all counts related to the stabbing of two local men.
Brandon B. Trank, 29, stabbed James Courville and Christopher Hilton in the Damariscotta municipal parking lot at about 2 a.m. March 10.
Trank and his attorney, Philip Cohen, did not contest the stabbings. Instead, the defense said Trank acted in self-defense.
The jury delivered its verdict at about 6 p.m. after almost four hours of deliberation.
Following the reading of the verdict, Cohen said his client is “very relieved” after spending more than seven months in jail awaiting trial.
“He finally had his day before a jury,” the Waldoboro attorney said. “Now he can go home.”
