Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Kimberley Kaiser has accepted the County Director’s position in York County and will be leaving her post after three years.
Her resignation, accepted with “regret” by Lincoln County Commissioners April 19 during their regular meeting, is effective Fri., April 29.
“Kim did an outstanding job for the county,” said LCEMA Director Tim Pellerin April 19. “She will be missed.”
Kaiser said her position will eventually be filled but a timeframe has not been determined. In praising Kaiser, Pellerin said she, “was excellent at applying for and receiving grants.”
“Lincoln County has some of the best first responders in the state,” said Kaiser. “The experience has been tremendous.”
“We have 15 patrol cars and like to rotate them every three years,” said Brackett in an interview with The Lincoln County News after the meeting. “When they approach that level of mileage, serious maintenance issues can arise.”
The vehicles will be the last Crown Victoria’s purchased by the county as the Ford Motor Co., phases out the model, which has been a popular choice for law enforcement agencies nationwide.
Brackett said the cruisers would average between 16-18 miles per gallon, essentially paying for “themselves in the second year” according to Lincoln County Administrator John O’Connell. The old cruisers will be put out to bid.
“We can sometimes get between $1500 and $2000 for them,” said Brackett. “They’re pretty popular with out of state cab companies.”
While no formal decision was made, Chairman Sheridan Bond suggested, in jest, a redwood, the 380-ft. monoecious (like an Alder) evergreen tree that typically lives for 1200-1800 years.
“I am of no help,” said O’Connell. “I have no horticultural sense.”
The issue was tabled for further research.
The Lincoln County Commissioners meets next on Tues., May 3 at 9 a.m.
