The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles J. “C.J.” Scavetta, 25, of Damariscotta the evening of Sept. 7 after receiving a tip about his location.
Scavetta faces six felony charges of burglary, receiving stolen property and theft in connection with the Aug. 26-27 burglary of Lincoln County Publishing Company and Standpipe Redemption in Newcastle.
He was at large for about 10 days after the issue of a warrant for his arrest.
Scavetta and co-defendant Corey Cookson, 31, of Bristol, allegedly burglarized the businesses at night, stealing electronics and returnable cans.
A third man, Chad L. Legere, 28, of Damariscotta, faces a single felony charge of receiving stolen property.
Scavetta also faces felony charges of burglary and theft in another case. He allegedly entered the Newcastle Publick House through a window June 12, stealing approximately $1400 in cash.
LCSO Lt. Michael Murphy said Scavetta confessed to those charges. A Lincoln County Superior Court indicted Scavetta on those charges Sept. 11.
The Lincoln County Publishing Company publishes The Lincoln County News, which has its offices in the same building.
Standpipe Redemption rents space from Lincoln County Publishing Company, also in the same building at 116 Mills Rd., in Newcastle.
