Between Thursday night, Oct. 25 and Sunday morning, Oct. 28, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received reports of several burglaries in the Ocean Point area of East Boothbay. The first burglaries were reported when a care taker was checking a seasonal property and found it had been burglarized. A check of the immediate area found several more seasonal homes had also been entered.
On Thursday evening on High Street in East Boothbay, a male subject entered a home and fled when confronted by the owner. Nothing was taken in this incident.
A total of nine burglaries have been reported so far in this area. The amount of damage to property is approximately $3000 and there was approximately $1000 to $3000 in valued property stolen. The Sheriff’s Office has received some information on potential suspects and continues to follow up any leads they’ve received.
Saturday evening, Oct. 27, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office also received two reported burglaries on Westport Island. There was numerous items stolen from both properties from tools to household goods. There is approximately $1000 in damages to property and approximately $5000 to $10,000 in valued property stolen.
Both these properties were summer homes and it is unknown exactly when the burglaries/theft took place.
It is uncertain at this time if the incidents in East Boothbay and Westport Island are related.
