LCTV kicked off the new year with a round of activities designed to get its new Sheepscot Road media center up and running. Throughout January board members and community volunteers turned out regularly to transfer equipment, paint interior walls, and complete other projects so that the new facility could go live on Jan. 17.
Since then, the LCTV board of directors has rapidly refocused on the next phase of studio design planning and development. When completed, the new center will offer local residents the opportunity to use video equipment and studio space for either prerecorded or live presentations.
The two-room building includes one that will contain the sets, cameras, lights and microphones for live and taped shows, with extra space to seat live audiences, adding to LCTV live call-in show capabilities.
The second room will house the control area for taped and live productions, broadcasting equipment, editing suites, training classes space, and an administration desk. The building includes a handicap ramp and offers adjacent parking spaces.
Within phase two, the board has created a wish list and seeks to acquire: an audio mixer, three rolling light stands, two tripods, two sets of tripod wheels, three digital camcorders, a DVD player/burner, green processor/projector, 25-30 chairs for audience seating, eight height-adjustable chairs, table with covered front for set, equipment racks for monitors and broadcasting equipment, table/work station/desk for editing equipment (at minimum one tower, two monitors, two keyboards), table/work station/desk for DVD loading/storage system, table/work station/desk for cables, tools, parts, an intercom system with mouthpiece for director, three headsets for camera people, in/out boxes, printer/copier/scanner/fax, guest table and chairs and a coffee maker.
As work progresses, board members would like to thank the following individuals and groups who have made the new access center possible to date: Sheriff Bill Carter, Gordon Clark and I-Haul, Coastal Journal, Laurel Cooley, Mary Ellen Crowley, Charlotte Davenhill, Jonathan Eaton (Clear Water Plumbing), John Emerson, Kyle Emerson, Bill Fraser, Martha Frink, Bobo Hachmeister, Bob Hardina (Mid-Coast Energy Systems), Central Maine Power, Barbara Johnson, Bill Kunitz, The Lincoln County News, Alan Lowe, L.R.
