Public Notice
The Maine Department of Transportation and Cianbro Corporation will be closing the navigation channel under The Gut Bridge in South Bristol, Maine from October 15th, 2014 to February 17th, 2015 between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm and 4:00 am. Weekly updated closure schedules with specific dates and times will be posted at the following locations in South Bristol, ME; Gamage Shipyard, Osier’s Wharf, and the South Bristol Fisherman’s Co-Op. Weekly updated closure schedules will also be posted to the Maine Department of Transportation’s project page, http://www.maine.gov/mdot/gutbridge/.
Attention Dog Owners of South Bristol/Walpole
Dog licenses for the 2015 year will be available October 15,2014.
All dog owners are obligated to license their dog(s) in the municipal clerk’s office annually on or before January 1 of the new year. Please bring with you, proof of rabies immunization.
Licensing your dog is a state law. The state of Maine sends each town a list of dogs that have received rabies vaccinations.
Please be advised that licensing a neutered/spayed dog is a small cost of $6.00 annually. Un-spayed is $11.00 annually. If paid after January 31, a late fee of $25.00 will be added.

TOWN OF WESTPORT ISLAND
The Westport Island Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on October 22, 2014 at the Westport Town Office Building, 6 Fowles Point Road beginning at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss, clarify and ask questions regarding the following referendum to be voted by secret ballot on November 4, 2014.
Shall Westport Island repeal the “Town of Westport Bud-get Committee Ordinance” as established pursuant to 30-A M.R.S.A. Section 3001 by vote on November 6, 2007, and dismiss the Westport Island Budget Committee.

AQUACULTURE PUBLIC HEARING

The Department of Marine Resources will hold a public hearing to consider an application filed by Johns River Shellfish, LLC for a 3.36 acre, 10-year, aquaculture lease located in Blackstone Narrows, north of Route 1 Bridge, upper Damariscotta River, Damariscotta, Lincoln County, Maine for bottom and suspended culture of American oysters, European oysters, Marine algae/seaweed, Nori, Dulse, and Sea Lettuce. Other compatible uses of the site would be permitted. At the hearing, the Department will take evidence relating to the criteria for granting a lease as listed in 12 M.R.S. §6072(7-A) and DMR Rule Chapter 2.37, including the effect of the proposed lease upon riparian owners’ shore access, navigation, fishing, ecology, and other uses of the area.
ALTERNATE HEARING DATE: If the November 10, 2014 hearing is postponed or cannot be concluded by a reasonable hour, the hearing will be continued on November 13, 2014 at 6:00 pm at the same location, and a notice will be posted at www.maine.gov/dmr.
INFORMATION ON DMR WEBSITE: See the DMR website, http://www.maine.gov/dmr/aquaculture/index.htm, under “Pending Aquaculture Lease Applications” for the lease application and DMR site report. Under “Public Participation in Aquaculture Leasing,” the following are posted: the lease criteria, hearing procedures, and suggestions for effective public participation in the hearing. WRITTEN COMMENTS: DMR will accept signed, written comments regarding the effect of the proposed lease until 5:00 pm on November 9, 2014. E-mailed comments will also be accepted, if a signed paper copy is mailed to the Department, postmarked not later than the date of the hearing.
SPEAKING AT THE HEARING: Any interested person may attend the hearing and ask questions of the parties or testify under oath about the effect of the proposed lease. You do not need to be an intervenor to submit comments or testimony.
INTERVENING: You may testify at the hearing without becoming an intervenor. If the proposed lease will substantially and directly affect you, you can apply for intervenor status at least 10 days prior to the hearing. If DMR grants you intervenor status, you become a legal party and will receive all subsequent correspondence and can comment on the draft decision. Intervenor application forms are available at http://www.maine.gov/dmr/aquaculture/index.htm under “Applications and Forms.” Applications to intervene are due at DMR no later than5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2014. The Department will decide whether to grant intervenor applications no later than November 5, 2014.
