ANNUAL NOTIFICATION OF INSPECTION FOR ASBESTOS
All of the Wiscasset School Department buildings were inspected for the presence of Asbestos-containing materials in August 2014. These surveys were conducted in accordance with the requirements of the EPA Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act, 40 CFR Part 763. This information, with a hazard assessment developed by an accredited management planner, is included in the Asbestos Management Plan for each school.
The EPA requires re-inspections of asbestos containing materials every three years, and a visual survey every six months. An accredited management planner reviewed the results of the surveys and recommended, if any, actions that should be taken to safely manage asbestos in your buildings.
This Asbestos Management Plan is available for inspection at the school administrative office. Everyone is welcome to view these at any time during normal school hours.
