Public Hearing & Special Town Meeting
The Municipal Officers of the Town of Damariscotta will hold a Special Town Meeting immediately following the Public Hearing on September 17th, 2014 at 5:00p.m.at the Town Office located at 21 School St. to review and hear public comments on the non-substantive technical amendments to the Damariscotta Shoreland Zoning (SLZ) Ordinance adopted at the June 11, 2014 Annual Town Meeting. These proposed additional amendments result from Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) review of the June 11, 2014 adopted amendments to the SLZ Ordinance.
Amend Section 12.C.1 – Non-Conforming Structures Expansions – by adding a new sub-section:
d. A plan approved by the municipal permitting authority for an expansion of a nonconforming structure must be recorded by the applicant with the Lincoln County Registry of Deeds within 90 days of approval. Plans must include at a minimum:
(1) The method of expansion (whether the applicant utilized the thirty (30) percent or the footprint expansion option);
(2) The existing and proposed footprint of the structure, in addition to the footprint of other nonconforming structures on the parcel;
(3) The existing and proposed structure height;
(4) A scaled drawing showing the location of the structure and other structures on the lot, in relation to the water body, tributary or wetland.

Amend Section 17 – Definitions – by adding a new definition: Footprint – The entire area of ground covered by the structures on a premises, including cantilevered or similar overhanging extensions, as well as unenclosed structures, such as patios and decks.

Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) is seeking bids on re-roofing the East Tower on Damariscove Island. Project must be completed by November 30, 2014. Scope of the work includes replacing existing white cedar shingles, sheathing, trim and rafter system, as needed. Some rafters may need replacement or support. Roof size is approximately 300 sq. ft. Panel Meeting Notice
The Maine Yankee Community Advisory Panel on Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage and Removal will meet from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, September 11 at the Taste of Maine on Route 1 in Woolwich.
The CAP meeting will include updates by Maine Yankee and the State of Maine on activities at the Maine Yankee site and developments on the spent nuclear fuel issue since the CAP last met in September 2013 as well as a public comment period. The purpose of the CAP is to enhance open communication, public involvement and education on spent nuclear fuel storage at Maine Yankee and to advocate for its prompt removal from Maine Yankee. NOTICE OF INTENT TO FILE
Please take note that Barbara Piccirillo, acting as family representative of the Richard Dalbeck Real Estate Trust, is intending to file a Natural Resources Protection Act permit application with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection pursuant to the provisions of 38 M.R.S.A. 480-BB on or about September 1, 2014.
The application is for stabilizing eroding areas of shoreline on 25 and 27 Harbor Lane in Round Pond.
A request for a public hearing or a request that the Board of Environmental Protection assume jurisdiction over this application must be received by the Department, in writing, no later than 20 days after the application is found by the Department to be complete and is accepted for processing. A public hearing may or may not be held at the discretion of the Commissioner or Board of Environmental Protection. Public comment on the application will be accepted throughout the processing of the application.
