During a meeting Dec. 28, the Lincoln County Commissioners finalized the 2011 budget for the county. The total expenditure was estimated at $10,336.593 with a deduction of $1,322,335 of total revenue and credits.
The remaining $9,014,258, except for anticipated surplus, represents a -0.11 decrease from the 2010 total expenditure of $9,023,841. Commissioners and Lincoln County Administrator John O’Connell attributed the decrease partly to a savings of $125,000 from the reserve account after completing a parking lot renovation in November.
The final budget also requested an additional $30,000 for the communications office above the $9000 submitted by the Lincoln County Budget Committee. This, explained O’Connell, was to “position the county for possible future needs.”
Other increases included 7.99 percent for the District Attorney’s office for software and 7.92 percent for the County Commissioners to cover legal fees. The budget will be submitted to the state for approval in the coming year.
The Lincoln County Commissioners will next meet on Jan. 4, 2011 at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse.
