Municipal officers and court officials gathered at the Lincoln County Courthouse to celebrate Chester Fossett’s 44 years of service to Lincoln County on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Fossett has served as the Register of Probate since 1987, overseeing the operations of the Probate Court.
He leaves his post in January 2015.
“I’ve enjoyed this work very much,” Fossett said. “I’ve always had good people to work with.” His deputy, Catherine Moore, won the Register of Probate seat in the November Election. She will be filling his shoes once he retires in January. “44 years with Lincoln County,” Moore said. “That’s something to be proud of.”
“Chester is an institution,” Probate Judge Thomas Berry said. “He will be missed institutionally.”
When asked what his plans were for retirement Fossett laughed. “What retirement?” he said. “This is my third retirement. I’m going to have to find another job.”
