A Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy is out of work after sustaining an injury while restraining a nude male pedestrian in Edgecomb on Monday, June 30.
Deputies responded to a complaint about a nude male pedestrian in the vicinity of 289 Route 1 shortly before 11 a.m., Lt. Rand Maker said.
The 39-year-old Portland man “was agitated and confrontational toward the officers,” Maker said. “He was restrained for their safety and one of our officers was injured during that time.”
Maker did not release the deputy’s name or provide information about his injury.
The deputies determined the pedestrian “needed medical treatment,” Maker said, and an ambulance transported him to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
The sheriff’s office has not determined whether the man will be charged. “We’re working through that right now,” Maker said.
