During a meeting of the Lincoln County Commissioners Jan. 18, Lincoln County Recycling Coordinator Mike Thompson presented the Board with a 2010 recycling revenue summary that showed a total savings of $218,964.65 for the county.
In addition to the savings, the recycling program had net sales of $255,942.83, numbers that Board Chairman Sheridan Bond called “excellent.”
In documents provided to The Lincoln County News by Thompson, total loads, defined as a tractor-trailer truck bed containing between 30 to 40 bales of material, decreased by two with sales increasing by $109,254.97 from 2009.
Overall the revenue was the third highest since 2006 but notable for the relatively small amount of loads, pegged at 106 by Thompson. Of the 11 towns the recycling program serves, Nobleboro showed the highest amount of savings at $74,978.16 with the lowest being Wiscasset at $2862.31.
“We pretty much broke even and seem to be climbing back to levels before the recession,” said Thompson.
