Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Peter Kenyon submitted his resignation Feb. 14.
“It is with deep regret that I wish to tender my resignation from the position of patrol deputy from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Dept., effective March 9, 2012,” Kenyon wrote in a brief letter to the Lincoln County Commissioners.
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Lincoln County for over a decade,” Kenyon wrote.
Kenyon, of Newcastle, has been on paid administrative leave since last spring.
Last October, a jury acquitted the LCSO veteran of a single charge of violation of condition of release, a misdemeanor.
Following the trial, Kenyon said he wanted to get back to work.
Instead, the county and Kenyon reached an unspecified agreement regarding his departure, Lincoln County Administrator John O’Connell said. The county has not released the agreement to the public.
Kenyon could not be reached for comment.
