Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On Oct. 8, Deputy Todd Chilton received a report of a theft of a motorcycle in the Dresden area. The complainant stated that around 10 p.m., he was awakened by his dog barking. When he looked outside he discovered his 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle missing from his driveway. On Oct. 9, the Wiscasset Police Department received a call from a citizen advising of a motorcycle off the road. Upon arrival, Lt. John Allen confirmed it was the motorcycle that was stolen the previous evening. There are no suspects and further investigation as leads develop.
On Oct. 9, George Fergusson, 55, of Whitefield was issued a summons for failure to register vehicle, on Rt. 1, Newcastle, by Deputy Mark Bridgham.
On Oct. 10, Deputy Brian Collamore received a report of theft of a boat motor that was located at the Bremen Town Landing. There will be further investigation as leads develop.
On Oct. 11, Deputy Brian Collamore received a report of theft from a residence on Westport Island. There will be further investigation in this matter.
Oct. 8, David R. Reed, 44, of Boothbay Harbor was arrested on a violation of bail charge, on Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor, by Deputies Tyson Fait and Harlow Waltz.
Oct. 12, Leon Busby, 28, of South Bristol was arrested on aggravated criminal trespass, domestic assault and criminal mischief by Sgt. Brendan Kane and Deputy Matthew Day.
On Oct. 7, an accident occurred on Rt. 126 in Whitefield involving Barbara B. Alexander, 76, of Chelsea and Viola M. Paradis, 65, of Jefferson. Alexander was traveling east and turned left into the path of the Paradis vehicle, which was traveling west. As a result, Paradis was unable to avoid the Alexander vehicle and struck it. Alexander’s 2002 Chrysler sustained an estimated $4500 in damage and Paradis’ 1998 Datsun/Nissan sustained an estimated $2800 in damage. Deputy Peter Kenyon was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 9, an accident occurred on Rt. 27 in Boothbay involving Shannon Swope, 20, of Southport and Norris H. Bussell, 77, of Needham, Mass. Bussell was stopped in traffic. Swope did not observe the Bussell vehicle and as a result, she was unable to avoid striking him. Swope’s 1990 Honda sustained an estimated $2900 in damage and Bussell’s 2001 BMW utility vehicle sustained an estimated $4500 in damage. Deputy Peter Kenyon was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 11, an accident occurred on Rt. 1 in Edgecomb involving Kevin Holbrook, 46, of West Bath and Amanda Dean, 29, of Bath. Holbrook was slowing in traffic when Dean failed to slow down fast enough and struck the rear of the Holbrook vehicle. Holbrook’s 2003 Chrysler sustained an estimated $1000 in damages and Dean’s 2002 Dodge van sustained an estimated $1500 in damages. Deputy Henry Grenier was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 11, an accident occurred on Rt. 32 in Bristol involving Edward Gryga, 62, of Wallingford, Conn. Gryga was headed northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the west and ran into the left side of the vehicle. The Gryga 1999 Ford sustained an estimated $1200 in damages. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 12, and accident occurred on Mills Rd. in Newcastle involving Brian Hendrickson, 23, of Waldoboro and Roger Guptill, 16, of Jefferson. Hendrickson was stopped at a stop sign then proceeded to pull out onto Mills Rd. and struck Guptill who was traveling southbound.
The Hendrickson 2003 GMC sustained an estimated $4500 in damages and the Guptill 1988 Ford truck sustained an estimated $3000 in damages. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
