Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On Feb. 2, Reserve Deputy Simon Yorks was dispatched to a report of identity theft in the Alna area. The complainant stated that he received notice from the Social Security Administration that someone had tried to create an account in his name and someone had already filed taxes in his name.
On Feb. 3, Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was dispatched to a reported theft of trespass signs in the South Bristol area. The complainant stated that sometime on this date, someone stole his “no trespass” signs. Further investigation if any new leads come forth.
On Feb. 4, Sgt. Brendan Kane responded to a report of a vehicle off the road in the Jefferson area. The vehicle had been entered into the National Crime Information Center by the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office as stolen. Sgt. Kane notified the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office and informed them of the recovery, and after Sgt. Kane photographed the scene and the vehicle, the vehicle was sent to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
On Feb. 4, Deputy Kenneth Hatch received a complaint of a theft of a flatbed trailer in the Newcastle area. The complainant stated that someone had cut a lock on their gate and stole their 2006 gray Adams trailer. This case is currently under investigation.
On Feb. 5, Deputy Justin Drake responded to a report of criminal mischief to vehicle tires in the Boothbay area. The complainant stated that the previous night, three of his tires (value: $600) had been slashed. Investigation to continue as leads develop.
Feb. 2, Robert B. Bradley, 66, of Bristol, was issued a summons for operating after suspension, on Upper Round Pond Road, Bristol, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
Feb. 4, Lisa M. Gosselin, 40, of Edgecomb, was issued a summons for hindering apprehension or prosecution, on McKay Road, Edgecomb, by Detective Scott Hayden.
Feb. 1, David C. Richards, 31, of Gardiner, was arrested for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, in Whitefield, by Detective Hayden, who was assisted by Detective Jared Mitkus.
Feb. 3, Robert N. Benner, 32, of Bristol, was arrested for violating condition of release, eluding an officer, operating after license suspension, an unpaid-fine warrant and two failure-to-appear warrants, on Huddle Road, Bristol, by Detective Mitkus.
Feb. 5, Vern W. Bosworth, 55, of Bristol, was arrested for criminal mischief and criminal trespass, on Glidden Street, Newcastle, by Deputy Aaron Beck.
Feb. 6, Susan Trafton, 58, of Brunswick, was arrested for operating under the influence, on Bath Road, Wiscasset, by Deputy Dennison.
On Feb. 3, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Wiscasset involving Linda E. Perry, 48, of Waldoboro, and Shawn M. Weaver, 34, of Dresden. Perry was making a left turn in her 2008 Toyota 4Runner onto Washington Street from Gardiner Road. A dump truck operator was stopped in traffic on Gardiner Road and allowed Perry to turn in front of him. Weaver, who was operating his 2006 Subaru Legacy, passed the dump truck on the right and hit Perry’s vehicle. Maj. Ken Mason was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 4, an accident occurred on U.S. Route 1 in Nobleboro involving Leo Aubin, 75, of Waldoboro. Aubin was operating his 2004 Pontiac Vibe southbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Deputy Beck was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 5, an accident occurred on River Road in Newcastle involving Alison J. Harrington, 43, of Boothbay. Harrington was operating her 2010 Subaru Outback southbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow-covered roadway. As a result, her vehicle struck an embankment and rolled over, coming to rest on its roof. Deputy Drake was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 5, an accident occurred on Cross Road in Edgecomb involving Russell Brackett, 66, of Yarmouth. Brackett was operating his 2002 Oldsmobile Alero southbound and was approaching the intersection with the Boothbay Road when he lost control of his vehicle due to the snow-covered road conditions. As a result, he was unable to stop at the intersection and struck a stop-sign post, located in a small median, causing front-end damage. Deputy Drake was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 5, an accident occurred on Cross Road in Edgecomb involving Cassandra T. Hansen, 23, of Boothbay Harbor. Hansen was operating her 2012 Ford Focus northbound and began to make a left-hand turn onto Cross Road. Hansen then lost control on the snow-covered roadway and struck the stop-sign post located in a small median at the intersection of Cross Road and Boothbay Road, resulting in damage to the driver’s side quarter panel. Deputy Drake was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Whitefield involving Alfred R. Scheffler, 28, of Jefferson. Scheffler was operating his 2012 Subaru Forester westbound when he dropped his cellphone device on the passenger floor of the vehicle. As he attempted to get his phone on the floor, his vehicle entered the right-side ditch. His vehicle then hit a rock wall and culvert and crossed over a private driveway, hitting a utility pole and snapping it in half before coming to rest on the driver’s side in a ditch. Reserve Deputy Michael Elwell was the investigating officer.
